Mrs. Kyna Wheeler is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University and earned her Master’s degree from Lamar University. She has 18 years of experience in education, including 10 years serving in leadership roles such as Administration, Director of Special Programs, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Literacy Specialist at Region 17 Education Service Center. Kyna has extensive experience in curriculum and instruction, school accountability, data systems, instructional coaching, and special programs.
She is married to Nate, and together they have two children, Gage and Sadie, who are all proud members of the Wellman-Union family.

This past year has been filled with learning, growth, and relationship-building, and I am thankful for the support of our students, staff, families, and community. I believe in a leadership style built on respect, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. While I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my first year as principal, I am equally excited about the work that lies ahead. As a parent of two students who attend Wellman-Union, I have a personal investment in the success of our district and community.
