Hi! My name is Rebecca Brown (although some of you know me as Mrs. White) and I am excited to be at Wellman-Union.  I am starting my 23rd year of teaching, with most of those years in the secondary classroom teaching Spanish.  I have taught a variety of other things on the secondary level but can now add that I have successfully taught at the 4th and 5th grade level as well.

I truly love learning about other languages and cultures and hope to share some of that passion with my students. I have traveled to a few other countries, so just to experience those cultures firsthand is a pretty amazing experience.

I attended a small school much like Wellman-Union growing up and small schools are where my heart truly is. There isn’t anything better.

After graduating high school, I attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and received my bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career in the Dallas area and taught at 2 very large schools. I took a break for a few years beginning in 2000 and lived in Germany on and off for about 3 years. Once I returned to the states, I got back into teaching and began a 4 year stint at Brownfield teaching Spanish. Once my daughter turned school age, she and I made the transition to Wellman.  We spent the next 13 years here and she graduated in 2021 and now attends Texas Tech University and plans on graduating from there with a degree in American Sign Language as well as Psychology.  She plans on continuing her education at Texas Tech in hopes of earning both a Master’s degree as well as a Ph. D. in Psychology.

I am truly looking forward to this year and seeing what we can accomplish all together.
