Jerry Smith - Junior High ELAR

Jerry Smith

I was raised in Colorado and Montana, until I attended college at Lubbock Christian University (88-92), where I met my amazing wife, Elizabeth.  We have two sons, Colton and William.  Colton attends Seattle Pacific University; William attends LCU.  I have worn several hats in education over the past 27 years—teaching ELA 7-12; coaching basketball, football, and track; and school counseling—in Amherst, Texas; Centerville, Tennessee; Lubbock, Brownfield; and Bayfield, Colorado.  I enjoy doing just about anything outdoors with my family—hunting, fishing, and hiking in the Rockies.

I am excited about being in Wellman and working with all the amazing people that make Wellman-Union a great place to be.

The mission of the Wellman-Union Independent School District is to educate the young people of our community to become productive members of our constantly changing society. All students will be provided opportunities for the development of essential academic skills. Opportunities will be provided for going far beyond these essentials, as well. To the extent of their individual abilities, students will be provided the opportunity to think logically, independently, and creatively, and to communicate effectively. Emphasis will be placed on quality of personnel and instruction in accomplishing this mission.
