Wellman-Union uses the definition of Gifted and Talented from the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted and Talented Students.  Section 29.121 of the Texas Education Code states:

“gifted and talented students” means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

(1) exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;

(2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or

(3) excels in a specific academic field.

Wellman-Union strives to help students exceed their potential by meeting the needs of each student.  We offer an inclusive gifted and talented program for students in grades K-12 which offers higher level opportunities for all students.  Please remember that all students receive many of the same opportunities whether they are identified or not.  If you choose to recommend your child for G/T testing, please complete the form(s) below and return to Megan Becker.

The mission of the Wellman-Union Independent School District is to educate the young people of our community to become productive members of our constantly changing society.
