High School Science

Shawn Horn

This is my fifth year as the high school science teacher at Wellman-Union. Additionally, I am an adjunct chemistry instructor for South Plains College. I serve as the UIL Science and Math coach, and UIL co-coordinator. My goal as an educator is to prepare students of all backgrounds for their future beyond high school.  This primarily involves promoting problem solving ability and process-oriented thinking.  With these two skill sets, students will have the tools to be successful at whatever they desire, whether that be further schooling or entering the work force.

The mission of the Wellman-Union Independent School District is to educate the young people of our community to become productive members of our constantly changing society. All students will be provided opportunities for the development of essential academic skills. Opportunities will be provided for going far beyond these essentials, as well. To the extent of their individual abilities, students will be provided the opportunity to think logically, independently, and creatively, and to communicate effectively. Emphasis will be placed on quality of personnel and instruction in accomplishing this mission.
